Fall Fun in Downtown Denver

Fall Fun in Downtown Denver

There are so many reasons to celebrate fall. The beauty autumn brings to nature is unmatched, people gather to celebrate holidays, and a fresh breeze fills the air. With so much happening, taking some time to have some fun can be hard to remember, especially in downtown Denver where you have a million options at your fingertips.

To help you experience the best of fall fun in Denver, we’ve compiled a list of the best activities, whether you’re alone, with your family, or with a group of your closest friends.

Denver Pumpkin Farms

Let’s begin with the obvious: you can’t go through autumn without paying a visit to a pumpkin farm with your friends or family. Whether you’re an adult, teen, or little munchkin, there’s much excitement to be had at a pumpkin patch. Spend your day basking in the glory of sweater weather while partaking in classic fall activities like corn mazes and pumpkin picking and sipping on house-brewed apple cider or hot chocolate. Pumpkin farms are a great way to appreciate the arrival of everyone’s favorite season – and support local businesses and farms by purchasing their produce and merchandise.

Fall Fun for the Adults

Whether you’re a college student, a parent, or anywhere in-between, everyone needs a break from the mundane and get some reprieve with their friends. Luckily for the residents of Denver, our city provides ample opportunity to do so, especially when fall hits. For instance, you can combat the chill of autumn weather with spiced spirits at the Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival. From October 18-20, you can spend your day tasting locally crafted drinks while listening to live bluegrass music and follow it up with walking tours, scavenger hunts, and mixology workshops.

Or, on October 20, stop by the Bloody Mary Festival for a “brunch blowout” featuring three hours of unlimited Bloody Mary tastings, live music, and an array of food trucks. These festivals are great ways to rejuvenate thanks to good drinks and great company, accompanied by Denver’s impeccable fall weather.

Family-Friendly Festivals

Alternatively, if you’re looking for some fall fun around Denver for the whole family, you may find it at the Brighton Harvest festival. On October 26, in downtown Brighton, the classic fall fair is thrown, featuring live music, face painting, and food trucks; there’s so much to see that everyone of all ages is sure to be pleased. For fans of everyone’s favorite comfort food, pay a visit to the Denver Mac ‘n’ Cheese Festival on November 2! Numerous chefs take their own personal spin on the dish and set them out for you to taste. Finally, vote on the best one! How could you resist the opportunity to spend your day eating such deliciousness? It sounds like heaven to me.

Bear Creek Trail

When most people think of Denver, they immediately think of the mountains and the beauty of nature. Truly, they are awe-inspiring – but there’s nothing that compares to the vibrant colors of the mountainside foliage in autumn. Bear Creek Trail is an iconic hiking trail that connects the city to the mountains, perfectly encapsulating the gorgeous views that people think of when they imagine Denver. Whether you just want to hike or you plan to spend the day picnicking, Bear Creek is a great way to appreciate the beauty of fall.

Larimer Square

Denver has incredible historic landmarks, but more people need to appreciate the true original landmark of the city: Larimer Square. Larimer is where the Mile High City began and is described as its oldest and most historic block. The signature canopy lights over the street offer a vibrant atmosphere where friends and family come together for shopping at independent boutiques and one-of-a-kind restaurants. In the evening, the energetic club scenes make for fun-filled evenings on the town with a vintage vibe only Denver can offer.

Fall-Themed Glow at the Gardens

From October 21-25, get into the spirit of spooky season at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The facility housing beautifully delicate flora during the day becomes a neon-illuminated Halloween extravaganza sure to enthrall and entertain anyone of any age. Gardens are filled with light displays, pumpkin art, and elaborate sculptures, all accompanied by fantastic LED and fire performances. Festival-goers can even expect trick-or-treating and glow-in-the-dark games to round out a captivating, mesmerizing, and ghoulish night leading up to Halloween.

EscapeWorks

A hallmark of fall is the gathering of friends and loved ones and exploring both new and lifelong relationships. And the best way to both get your squad together for some fall fun and or spend quality time with a significant other is by escaping the dropping temperatures outside to try your hand at a puzzle room. Denver is the escape room Mecca, and EscapeWorks is the best facility around, so you’re guaranteed a thrilling experience to fit the atmosphere of fall. To add a little spice to the experience, you can even come costumed as specific characters for each room: Lara Croft for Egyptian Tomb, Danny Ocean’s crew for Casino Heist, etc. But the festivities don’t have to end there, because escape rooms are easily paired with other activities. They are great for parring any previously mentioned attractions on your agenda. No matter who you bring with you, this activity is a Denver fall essential you absolutely must explore.

A fun-filled fall day in Denver is nothing you’ve ever seen before and is something you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Whether you’re a lover, a loner, or the life of the party, there’s always something for you to explore. If you want to try out any of these activities, they’re all available on a “walk-in” basis, but if you want to ensure a timeslot at EscapeWorks, reserve your spot here!
