Selecting a team building event for your office crew can often be a challenge. Even in niche industries, coworkers often have wildly divergent interests, and corralling a mix of introverts and extroverts to work together in a non-work environment can often feel like work itself.
However, few things can bring a group together better than an unsolved mystery, and holding your team building outing at an “escape room” can be a unique way to break the ice and help your employees get to know each other a bit more closely. Read on for the top five reasons EscapeWorks Denver can keep your team building event entertaining, memorable, and effective.
It Works Best with a Range of Interests and Talents
EscapeWorks‘ varied rooms all have one thing in common—they’re designed to be best solved by a team of individuals from all walks of life and with many different skills. These rooms may require you to solve a complex math problem to unlock a new clue, search in the dark for a lost key, or flip through old books for a lost handwritten letter in order to make your escape.
Having those with administrative, financial, linguistic, and even engineering knowledge on your team can ensure a well-rounded effort that is certain to uncover even some of the more obscure clues.
It Helps Participants Appreciate Each Other
When employees work in close proximity to each other on a daily basis, the normal stresses and tensions of daily life can often be projected on their coworkers in frustration. Attending an EscapeWorks event can give your employees a new appreciation for their coworkers’ talents and special skills, and often help employees learn more about the people who sit within arm’s reach every day.
A Variety of Skill Levels Are Available
If you or any of your employees are a bit nervous about tackling a complex puzzle, you’re free to choose from among the easier-to-solve rooms. EscapeWorks helpfully lists the skill levels next to each room, also giving statistics on the number of groups who typically complete each room within the 60 minutes allotted.
Watching the Clock Tick Adds Excitement
Often, one of the most challenging parts of your job as a manager can be getting uninterested employees to demonstrate a bit more enthusiasm for (and interest in) the work they’re doing. Solving an escape room can be just the ticket—even though your employees know they won’t face anything but the loss of bragging rights if they fail to solve a room’s puzzle within 60 minutes, the conspicuously ticking clock can light a fire under even the most apathetic employee.
It Won’t Take up Your Entire Workday
When the 60 minutes is up, it’s up—whether your team succeeded or failed in escaping. This makes EscapeWorks the perfect afternoon team-building activity, as your crew can enjoy a leisurely lunch out and then solve an escape room puzzle while still having a few hours left in the workday.
Gabby was the goat today #thebest I miss Wyatt though :( he game mastered 3/5 of our games here(we have now completed them all) and we used to request him specifically cause he was so good. If there were more games here we would request Gabby! she was epic and deserves a raise. Vampire Slayer was epic, such a cool set, Pirate room was also super cool, it was huge which is great for a big group, and the speakeasy is one of the best rooms I've done recently! those three games are totally worth the price! Honest feedback as someone who has played SO MANY escape rooms, update/overhaul Casino Heist. Puzzles made leaps in logic larger then I have seen in any other escape room. the puzzles were also worn out and some did not work. my fav part of that game was leaving :/ Also Egypt needs some work, its SO dark, and some of the puzzles were really cool, but some did not make much sense at all.

A fantastic escape room right in the heart of downtown Denver. Excellent staff and our game master Gabby was the best! If we didn't have plans already would have loved to do another one. We did the Egyptian room and it was super in theme, very Indiana Jones inspired. Will have to try the other rooms next time I'm in Denver.

This was my first time doing an escape room and I had a lot of fun. Our game master, Bailey, did an awesome job steering us in the right direction without giving away too much of the puzzles. I would come back to try another room!
