Selecting a team building event for your office crew can often be a challenge. Even in niche industries, coworkers often have wildly divergent interests, and corralling a mix of introverts and extroverts to work together in a non-work environment can often feel like work itself.
However, few things can bring a group together better than an unsolved mystery, and holding your team building outing at an “escape room” can be a unique way to break the ice and help your employees get to know each other a bit more closely. Read on for the top five reasons EscapeWorks Denver can keep your team building event entertaining, memorable, and effective.
It Works Best with a Range of Interests and Talents
EscapeWorks‘ varied rooms all have one thing in common—they’re designed to be best solved by a team of individuals from all walks of life and with many different skills. These rooms may require you to solve a complex math problem to unlock a new clue, search in the dark for a lost key, or flip through old books for a lost handwritten letter in order to make your escape.
Having those with administrative, financial, linguistic, and even engineering knowledge on your team can ensure a well-rounded effort that is certain to uncover even some of the more obscure clues.
It Helps Participants Appreciate Each Other
When employees work in close proximity to each other on a daily basis, the normal stresses and tensions of daily life can often be projected on their coworkers in frustration. Attending an EscapeWorks event can give your employees a new appreciation for their coworkers’ talents and special skills, and often help employees learn more about the people who sit within arm’s reach every day.
A Variety of Skill Levels Are Available
If you or any of your employees are a bit nervous about tackling a complex puzzle, you’re free to choose from among the easier-to-solve rooms. EscapeWorks helpfully lists the skill levels next to each room, also giving statistics on the number of groups who typically complete each room within the 60 minutes allotted.
Watching the Clock Tick Adds Excitement
Often, one of the most challenging parts of your job as a manager can be getting uninterested employees to demonstrate a bit more enthusiasm for (and interest in) the work they’re doing. Solving an escape room can be just the ticket—even though your employees know they won’t face anything but the loss of bragging rights if they fail to solve a room’s puzzle within 60 minutes, the conspicuously ticking clock can light a fire under even the most apathetic employee.
It Won’t Take up Your Entire Workday
When the 60 minutes is up, it’s up—whether your team succeeded or failed in escaping. This makes EscapeWorks the perfect afternoon team-building activity, as your crew can enjoy a leisurely lunch out and then solve an escape room puzzle while still having a few hours left in the workday.
So much fun!
This was our second time coming here and we played the new vampire hunter room. The room was so interactive, full of fun puzzles and the story line was spooky. We had a great time ! Our game master Dakota was extremely helpful and created a fun atmosphere to our experience.
We will definitely be back to finish the other rooms!!

We had a great time in the Vampire Hunter room at EscapeWorks! The puzzles were a lot of fun, and the room was awesome. Plus, our Game Master Cole was great and very helpful! While we weren't the most accomplished vampire hunters, we had so much fun trying!

So much fun!! Went with a few friends and did the Egyptian Tomb themed room. It was definitely challenging, but not impossible, just hard enough that it was fun. Dakota helped us and made the experience amazing with an in depth story that made us feel like we were really in it. Would definitely recommend!!

I had a blast with my family! My game master was Harmony, and she was so much fun. She gave us hints exactly when we needed them, and left them as obscure as she could to make sure we still had to figure it out. Loved her, love this escape room!

This escape room was SO much fun! As someone who has done a number of escape rooms, this one tops the charts. The experience from booking to playing was so great and didn’t have problems with any of it. On top of it, the staff working were so great. Wyatt was so much fun and knows how to give his groups a 10/10 experience.

It was great, highly recommend!! We did the Speakeasy and Vampire Hunter rooms with 2 of us. The rooms had great production value, the puzzles were challenging but fun and achievable. The stories are cool and everything worked well. Our games masters were Will and Zeke. Both were fantastic and added lots to the fun of our experiences!! If we didn't live half way across the world we'd do all of their rooms.

This was my first time doing an escape room in a while and what a wonderful experience! Our gamemaster, Zeke, was attentive to our group and gave us a great brief and debrief. The room itself was sufficiently challenging and required a few "aha" moments but our group was able to complete it. Thanks again for the experience, I'll definitely be back (if I can find someone to drag with me).
