Selecting a team building event for your office crew can often be a challenge. Even in niche industries, coworkers often have wildly divergent interests, and corralling a mix of introverts and extroverts to work together in a non-work environment can often feel like work itself.
However, few things can bring a group together better than an unsolved mystery, and holding your team building outing at an “escape room” can be a unique way to break the ice and help your employees get to know each other a bit more closely. Read on for the top five reasons EscapeWorks Denver can keep your team building event entertaining, memorable, and effective.
It Works Best with a Range of Interests and Talents
EscapeWorks‘ varied rooms all have one thing in common—they’re designed to be best solved by a team of individuals from all walks of life and with many different skills. These rooms may require you to solve a complex math problem to unlock a new clue, search in the dark for a lost key, or flip through old books for a lost handwritten letter in order to make your escape.
Having those with administrative, financial, linguistic, and even engineering knowledge on your team can ensure a well-rounded effort that is certain to uncover even some of the more obscure clues.
It Helps Participants Appreciate Each Other
When employees work in close proximity to each other on a daily basis, the normal stresses and tensions of daily life can often be projected on their coworkers in frustration. Attending an EscapeWorks event can give your employees a new appreciation for their coworkers’ talents and special skills, and often help employees learn more about the people who sit within arm’s reach every day.
A Variety of Skill Levels Are Available
If you or any of your employees are a bit nervous about tackling a complex puzzle, you’re free to choose from among the easier-to-solve rooms. EscapeWorks helpfully lists the skill levels next to each room, also giving statistics on the number of groups who typically complete each room within the 60 minutes allotted.
Watching the Clock Tick Adds Excitement
Often, one of the most challenging parts of your job as a manager can be getting uninterested employees to demonstrate a bit more enthusiasm for (and interest in) the work they’re doing. Solving an escape room can be just the ticket—even though your employees know they won’t face anything but the loss of bragging rights if they fail to solve a room’s puzzle within 60 minutes, the conspicuously ticking clock can light a fire under even the most apathetic employee.
It Won’t Take up Your Entire Workday
When the 60 minutes is up, it’s up—whether your team succeeded or failed in escaping. This makes EscapeWorks the perfect afternoon team-building activity, as your crew can enjoy a leisurely lunch out and then solve an escape room puzzle while still having a few hours left in the workday.
We completed the Vampire escape room and absolutely loved it! The puzzles were clever, creative, and kept us thinking the entire time. Everything was really well done. Huge shoutout to Wyatt--he did an awesome job setting the scene, getting us pumped to play, and offering just the right amount of help when we got stuck. Five stars all around!

This was my first escape room experience. I went with one other person and we made it about 2/3 of the way through with only our 2 brains. Dakota was our game master and he was super friendly and enthusiastic- he allowed us to see the final room and other puzzles we didn’t get to experience during our hour. He went above and beyond and we’re excited to come back another time for a different escape! Thanks Dakota!

This was my first visit to Escape Works. As an avid escape room artist, I can confidently say I highly recommend this place. The room itself was challenging but yet manageable for all skill levels, while not frustrating and keeping puzzles fun! Dakota was a phenomenal game master from talking with him before, his hints were great and well timed. We will return for sure and am looking forward to doing the new location as well!

Austen showed us a really good time with 3 different rooms. She was super enthusiastic about her job and telling the story for each room. Super informative and made it fun. Even gave us riddles to solve while we waited for each room to be setup. 10/10 recommend. The rooms were fun and definitely had some challenging parts!

My friends and I did the Pirate escape room for a part of a bachelorette party and we had a great time! Such a fun experience, and because it was only an hour, it was an easy addition to our itinerary. We liked how this escape room gave us hints when we were struggling and didn't penalize us for getting the hint. It made for a really fun time! Also, our gamemaster Dakota was so fun!! We would definitely recommend.

We had an awesome time at EscapeWorks Denver! Dakota gave the perfect amount of hints, helping us along when we were stuck but still allowing us time to think the puzzles through for ourselves and still feel challenged. Dakota was very friendly and took a lot of great photos for our group when we successfully escaped the room. I would recommend EscapeWorks Denver for a fun night out!

My BFF and I did the Speakeasy Room, and it was so much fun! Wyatt was a great game master and gave us clues at just the right times. We escaped with less than a minute to spare...whew. I would definitely come back to do another room when I next visit Denver.
