Fun Summer Activities to do in Colorado

Fun Summer Activities

With Summer quickly approaching, many are going to be out of school or taking vacations from work. As warmer days become more regular and the sun begins to set later, we offer you 5 fun summer activities to do in Colorado! Whether you’re a tourist or a native we hope you enjoy these ideas and give them a try yourself. Get outside, get active and have fun!

The Colorado Renaissance Festival

Renaissance Festival

To start, the Colorado Renaissance Festival is an excellent option for a summer activity. With endless forms of food, entertainment and artisan goods, there’s no way to go wrong. Dress up and interact with period-actors, or take the whole family and watch acrobatics and the joust. Enjoy a good ale? Then go try some of the special brews at the festival! The fair runs from 10a-6:30p, leaving a full day for you to have your fun and explore everything the festival grounds have to offer.

White Water Rafting

Next, an activity many have on their bucket list- white water rafting is quite popular in Colorado! There are many different businesses that host white water rafting (primarily in Idaho Springs), all with beautiful locations and exhilarating rapids. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, there are a variety of different rapids tours to suit anybody’s skill level. The Colorado Adventure Center also has zip-lining and ropes courses which leaves a lot of options for families and couples.

Elitch Gardens

Elitch Gardens

Thirdly, Elitch Gardens is your typical amusement park- complete with rides, games and food! When in doubt, keep it simple. Great for the whole family! Take a spin on the Mind Eraser, or a drop on the Tower of Doom. This amusement park also has a water park attached to it- complete with a wave pool and giant water slides! Perhaps a ‘lazy river’ is more your style- they have that too!

Bishop Castle

Bishop Castle

When hunting for fun summer activities, you often find the same options over and over. With this one though, you’ll be going on an adventure unlike any other. Bishop Castle– a hand built castle made single-handedly by Jim Bishop. While it’s not quite the size of a Scottish castle, it’s still an impressive creation with towers and spiral stairs galore. It’s a short road trip away from being the highlight of your Summer.

Escape Rooms

Lastly, there’s nothing better than grabbing your friends and family for an escape room. We may be biased here at Escapeworks Denver, but on the days where the sun is beating down and the heat is too much… Why not try an air conditioned escape room? Go searching through an ancient tomb, or save the world from a zombie outbreak. When you can’t find it in Colorado, you may find it in an escape room!
